Ivan Faute
Playwright and fiction writer
When therapist Margaret Weather receives a grant from her mentor Dr. Speares to write a book about her prize patient Elvin, she's ecstatic. Elvin depends on his mother Celina for everything, except the approval he gets from Margaret. When Speares suggests mousy Angela start visiting Elvin to get more interesting results for her book, things start to spin out of control. At least for some people. A dark-ish, kind of farcical, and pretty absurd comedy that welcomes everyone who’s ever been in therapy, had anxiety, likes bouncy balls, had a family, or wanted one (a family or a bouncy ball that is). Under the direction of Amelia Sciandra, playwright Ivan Faute mixes decidedly theatrical storytelling and playful language to skew and celebrate the complications of therapy, family, and imposter syndrome. Take a break and perhaps dance around the maypole.
